New Delhi: Another explosion was reported in Delhi’s Prashant Vihar on the morning of November 28, just two months after a blast occurred outside the CRPF School in the same area.
The latest blast happened around 11:48 a.m. in front of Bansi Sweets, causing shock and panic among residents. Many rushed out of their homes in fear after hearing the loud explosion. An eyewitness at the scene described the blast as “sudden and extremely loud,” leaving the entire neighborhood shaken.
What the eyewitnesses said:
The primary eyewitness, Krishna Kumar Gupta, shared his account when spoken to by Jagran reporter Dharmendra Yadav. He mentioned, “It’s part of my daily routine to visit the park around 11:30 AM. As soon as I reached the gate, there was a sudden blast.”
When Krishna Kumar was asked how loud the blast was, he replied, “It was very loud. Some people said it was a tire explosion, others claimed it was a bomb. However, he could not confirm what caused the blast. He mentioned that a car was parked nearby, and the driver checked his vehicle before turning around and driving away.”
Regarding the comparison to last month’s explosion, Krishna Kumar said, “This blast was more intense, but…”. When asked if the car driver was hurt, he clarified, “No, the car driver was fine, but a tempo driver was injured.” On being asked about the smoke, he added, “There was a lot of smoke and a lot of dust in the air.”
When asked if the explosion was similar to the one near the CRPF school last month, he responded, “It was probably more intense than that one, but it was also very loud. In the previous blast, the car windows had shattered, but nothing like that happened here.” He further explained, “There were some street vendors around, but they weren’t harmed. The explosion occurred right by the park gate.”
Another eyewitness, Balwant Jain, shared, “Yes, I heard it too. There was a loud noise, and we were in the park. We came out, but no one was injured.”
A third eyewitness, Bhim Sen Jain, described the event: “We were sitting on a bench in the park, talking when we heard the loud blast. Someone mentioned that a tire had burst, but we knew that kind of sound wouldn’t happen with just a tire.”
He continued, “The blast was loud, and initially, black smoke emerged, followed by white smoke that rose high into the air. No one was near the spot of the blast. The vendors were nearby, and everyone else was in the park.”
Bhim Sen further mentioned, “When the smoke cleared, people gathered around and speculated that the car’s battery had exploded. We questioned that, as the car didn’t appear damaged.”
When asked about the source of the blast, Bhim Sen stated, “We still don’t know. The blast occurred right on the road. Some people are saying it happened in a car, others in a tempo. But both the car and tempo seemed fine, so it’s unclear where exactly the explosion happened.”
